We, the Catholic Community of St. Richard of Chichester, are called by Baptism to proclaim the message of Jesus Christ to all. Guided by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to active evangelization, seeking to make Jesus known and present through our worship, community, formation and service.
St. Richard Catholic Church was dedicated on Palm Sunday, March 25th, 1967. Presently, there are about 1400 families registered as members. It is the largest parish in Mississippi and in the Diocese of Jackson. With the St. Richard Catholic School and the numerous ministries that involve all age groups and different interests, there are many ways to get to know fellow parishioners.
The history and time line of our church is quite interesting. To find out more, click here for Timeline of St. Richard Church.
The architecture of the church is also very unique and has won several architectural awards. It is significantly the sacred place where the People of God worship. The building itself expresses the Church community. The design aims at the disciplined elimination of everything nonessential. While some may feel that the building feels cold, it is actually full of symbolism. For further details click here for Historical significance of building.
